5.45 clock, alarm clock travel us abruptly from sleep. Today we finally get our rental car and start the tour of the National Parks. Lorrie's, we experience a wild ride back to the airport where we'll do in a completely empty Alamo switch (it's a quarter to eight in the morning) the formalities. Go to the Choice-Line. We do not have much choice, but one stands out to us immediately apparent: a Dodge Journey, 2010, white, two months old, new car smell. It is! We start in the direction of Yosemite. About an hour later, we still decide to shop and have breakfast. When we experience a German-USA Highlight: at 9.15 clock on Sunday we walk into a Target Superstore in which one EVERYTHING felt replaced. Then breakfast and on we go. Finally arrived in Yosemite National Park, we are overwhelmed by the impressions!
Because we decide not to check in, we drive to Glacier Point. After numerous curves, we are completely at the crowded parking lot. Somehow fight a car park and we are finally at the point of view. From here you can see the Half Dome in its full size and has a great view of the valley. Also on Glacier Point, there is a wedding, it shows that you really can get married anywhere in the U.S.. Then we drive to the Mariposa Grove. We note that our car is suitable for gravel roads in any case, since the half-way point is in this state. Finally, on target, we marvel at the giant sequoia trees, and finally break back in to the hotel. Once in the Valley, we see our first wild animal: a deer on a street, looking calmly behind the market. Indeed know we deer here too, but everything here is exciting. Yeah, a street sign!!
The Yosemite View Lodge is a nice motel - 25 years ago! Since we stay only one night, we keep it out well and hope that the next hotel will be better! Tomorrow it's off to the Tioga Pass in the direction of Death Valley!
