At 6:30 the alarm clock rings. Angels Landing is calling! With the free shuttle bus we drive from the Majestic View Lodge, a few hundred Meters from Springdale, to the entrance of Zion National Park. There we get to the bus, turns his rounds in the park. The Grotto is our goal. Us get off about 20 people, but apparently we are the only ones who have listened to the tape in the bus, the others remain as sheep for the first time all in the wrong direction. So we have not run into the crowd. We start at 8:35 Mountain Time Clock. The climb begins unspectacular. Slowly the road winds up the mountain. After a somewhat steeper slope, we reach the Refrigerator Canyon, where it also has a really comfortable temperature. Another piece of the mountain arrived around and on the other hand, wind up Walter's Wiggles to go steeply up the mountain. We come forward quickly to pass and some that do already tired. At the top we will see the last half mile up to Angels Landing, but it has in itself! We gather our forces shortly before we risk the climb. It is now 9.35 clock. The first part is equal to a smoothly sloping rock face and you have to first seek his support. The steel chains help, but we just start to doubt. But we want to the top! Continue past the deep slopes, over high stone steps and through narrow rocky ridge, always the steel cable in the eye and firm hand. Sometimes you have to pull up right on the rope, because you can hardly find good support for the feet. This is harder than Thought. Clock at 10.15 it is done: We stand on the summit! This went much faster than expected! We enjoy the spectacular views, strengthen us with water and cereal bars and shoot lots of photos. Unfortunately, there is no sign that says that you have made it to the summit. Just a lot Chipmunks, jumping around to the top striker and hope for food. From here we also see that making more and more hikers on the way over the rocks. So we set off on the descent. Before that we had some jitters in the ascent, since one has to look into the abyss with insurmountable difficulty of tabs! But it's lighter than feared. We start the descent with a group of other Hikers with whom we descend to the end. Unfortunately, we are often forced to take breaks, just not on at all points the passage of oncoming wall. But we can no longer enjoy the great view! Shortly before the end of the descent of the rock ridge sits a sudden, a few meters away from us, a giant Condor on a cliff! Something one does not happen every day! After the rock climbing down the rest is done quickly. To 12.10 clock, we are back in the valley and give us the first time a healthy meal: burgers and sandwiches, but what else is not natural.
rested we set off towards the Emerald Pools. The guide knows two routes, we take the longer route and not so full. Of course there is the more strenuous option. Eventually we will arrive at the middle pool and rest of us in the shade. It turns out that it was not a bad idea to replenish our water supplies at the Visitor Center. Continue to the Lower Pool, the Supreme us to save us because we're pretty exhausted. Back then it goes through shadows and all downhill. Then we go then by shuttle through the park and look at Angels Landing from below. Back at the hotel, we enjoy the cool pool and end your day!
